The Political Economy Reading Program is an extracurricular, non-credit reading program in which students participate in weekly discussions about topics in economics and political economy. Participants that successfully complete the program receive a $1,000 scholarship.  

The Free Market Institute (FMI) is currently accepting applications for an invitation to participate in the Spring 2026 Political Economy Reading Program. All full-time undergraduate students from any field of study at Angelo State University are eligible and encouraged to apply for an invitation to participate.  

The program will begin with an introductory meeting, followed by ten (10) regular discussion meetings to be scheduled for Wednesdays from 5:30-6:45 PM between January 14, 2026 and April 22, 2026.  

Participants will also attend a mandatory multi-school summit at Texas Tech University (TTU). Participants will interact with students from Texas Tech University (TTU) participating in a similar reading program. The FMI will provide travel arrangements and lodging accommodations for ASU participants.
