FMI Political Economy Reading Program at Texas Tech University


The Political Economy Reading Program is an extracurricular, non-credit reading program in which students participate in twice-weekly discussions about topics in economics and political economy. Participants that successfully complete the program receive a $1,000 scholarship.

The Free Market Institute is currently accepting applications for an invitation to participate in the Fall 2025 Political Economy Reading Program. All full-time undergraduate students from any field of study at Texas Tech University are eligible and encouraged to apply for an invitation to participate.

The program will begin with an introductory meeting, followed by ten (10) regular discussion meetings to be scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays from 5:00-6:15 PM between August 25, 2025 and October 30, 2025.

Participants will also attend a mandatory multi-school summit at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, TX. Participants will interact with students from other schools participating in a similar reading program. The Institute will arrange for round-trip transportation for all participants.
