iOS Design Lab Professional Development - 5 Levels of Learning

The TTU DFW iOS Design Lab plans to offer individual sessions to cover the 5 Levels listed below.

Level 1: Foundation

Focus: Introduction to iOS design principles, user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) fundamentals.

Content:

  • Overview of Apple's Human Interface Guidelines (HIG)
  • Basic UI elements (buttons, labels, text fields, etc.)
  • Introduction to design thinking and user-centered design
  • Prototyping tools and techniques (basic wireframing)

Learning Activities:

  • Hands-on exercises with Xcode and SwiftUI
  • Group projects on simple app design
  • Lecture by experienced iOS designer

Level 2: Intermediate

Focus: Deeper dive into iOS design patterns, interaction design, and usability testing.

Content:

  • Advanced UI design principles (navigation, information architecture, visual hierarchy)
  • Interaction design best practices (animations, transitions, gestures)
  • Usability testing methods and analysis
  • Accessibility guidelines for iOS apps

Level 3: Advanced
