CONNECTING RESEARCH, EDUCATION, AND PRACTICE IN VETERINARY COMMUNICATION

This meeting brings together educators, researchers, academic clinicians, and communication professionals to connect research, teaching & learning, through a collaborative and highly interactive learning experience.

PURPOSE

Communication shapes patient care, client relationships, team dynamics, clinical decision-making, and professional sustainability across veterinary medicine. As communication education and research continue to evolve, there is a growing need for opportunities that connect evidence, and education.

March 11-12 | Communication Curricula, Assessment & Facilitation

Join us for 1.5 days of interactive, in-person workshops focused on communication curricula, assessment, and facilitation. Through evidence-based approaches, practical strategies, and shared experiences, participants will develop skills and resources to strengthen, adapt, and advance communication education within their own institutions.

Topics will include curriculum design and integration, communication competency development, assessment strategies, experiential learning, simulated client methodology, feedback and debriefing, and effective facilitation.

Pre-registration is required. Participation is limited to 60 attendees.

Registration for the March 11-12 workshops includes participation in the March 13 Hybrid Research Symposium.

March 13 | Hybrid Veterinary Communication Research Symposium

The one-day hybrid, in-person and online, research symposium will highlight emerging evidence and advances in veterinary communication. The symposium will provide a global forum for educators, researchers, clinicians, and trainees to share research, innovative educational approaches, and best practices. Further, there will be opportunities for participants to connect with each other, build collaborations, and identify future priorities for veterinary communication research and education.

The Call for Abstracts and registration for the March 13 Hybrid Research Symposium are now open! View the Abstract Submission page.

March 14 | Advance Facilitation & Improvisation

The program concludes with a half-day, in person advanced workshop focused on facilitation and improvisation skills for veterinary communication teaching and experiential learning.

Participants will work in small groups with simulated clients and experienced facilitators to practice advanced techniques, receive individualized feedback, and explore strategies for navigating various communication encounters. Participants will leave with practical skills and individualized goals to support continued development and mastery as communication educators.

Pre-registration is required. Participation is limited to 40 attendees.
